CLASSIC YACHT HOLDINGS
A well designed old wooden sailing yacht is a piece of art. A welcome reprieve from the mass produced plastic yachts of today, they have the ability to transport us to a long passed era where yachtsmen were explorers and adventurers. A living embodiment of centuries of boatbuilding knowledge and thousands of hours of meticulous craftsmanship. To step onboard an old wooden boat is to step back in time, to smell the pitch pine, hear the hull creak in heavy seas, feel the solid deck underfoot, admire the bronze deck fittings that have served their purpose for a century and bear the scars to prove it.
About Us
Craftsmanship, beauty, heritage
Classic Yacht Holdings was founded in 2023 by David Cassidy, an avid sailor who began racing in dinghy's at 5 years old. With over a decade of experience within the luxury yachting industry, Mr Cassidy recognised a demand to preserve the heritage and beauty of classic wooden sailing yachts and to offer the best of classic sailing yacht experiences in the French Riviera.
In 2022 Mr Cassidy stumbled upon S/Y Skål, a 1930's Philip Rhodes designed cutter. S/Y Skål was in a sad state of disrepair and neglect. The desire to save Skål was the catalyst for our restoration journey.

Classic Yacht Holding's mission is to showcase the adventure of sailing while ensuring these magnificent vessels continue to grace the seas for centuries to come. Join us as we celebrate maritime history and luxury sailing experiences like no other.

SKÅL 1930
Philip L. Rhodes design no.1430 Skål was built in 1930 by Casey Boatbuilding Co. Fairhaven, Massachusetts, USA.
Skål was commissioned by two well known yachtsmen for the 1931 Transatlantic
Race. Despite coming 2nd to Dorade she had been largely forgotten. We hop to bring her back into the limelight.
